Taipei, 1st May 2017: Viktoriya Zyabkina asserted her status as a leading Asian female sprinter by clean sweep of all titles of Asian Grand Prix series which concluded in Taipei yesterday. Viktoriya set Asian leading performance of 11.34s to remain undefeated in the AGP 2017. Feng Bin of China was the only other athlete to achieve unbeaten run in AGP 2017 Series. Feng lead all 3 events with a comfortable win in the women’s discus throw. In Taipei she threw 61.32m to complete hat trick.
India’s Om Prakash Karhana, former Asian shot put champion found his form in the 3rd round of Men’s Shot Put when he executed smooth rotational turn with a perfectly timed jerk to release shot put which landed at 19.58m, leading Asian performance of 2017 and a win.
Men’s Javelin throw witnessed upset as the two favourites Cheng Chao-Tsun and Neeraj Chopra failed to breach 80m barrier which they were seen doing during warm up throws with an ease. Huang Shih-Feng of Chinese Taipei composed himself for the last round throw, executing perfect release with all his force, achieving distance of 80.77m to win the title.
