Tang Gongchen shine in the 3rd leg of Asian Grand Prix 2015

July 5, Singapore- Tang Gongchen (唐功臣) of China set lone Asian Grand Prix record in the third and concluding leg of the Asian Grand Prix Series 2015 held on June 29 at Chanthaburi (Thailand).  

Tang maintained his winning streak in the men’s long jump and top to that he pulled up all his energy to set new personal best of 8.17m and Beijing World Championship qualification. 

India’s Ankit Sharma left disappointed with another silver medal and below par expectations distance of 7.87m. Li Chengbin of China took bronze in 7.82m.

As many as 9 athletes remained unbeaten in the Asian Grand Prix Series 2015.  

Former Asian Junior champion Hassan Taftian of Iran mainatined his supermacy in 100m winning it in 10.41s. India’s Jinson Johnson was jubliant with unbeaten run in men’s 800m, winning it in 1:50.56s. Kuwait’s Yacoub Mohamed Al-Youha won men’s high hurdles  in 13.82s to complete hattrick. India’s Inderjeet Singh emerged strongman of the series winning all three legs in the men’s Shot put. He threw 19.83m to register his third win at Chanthaburi Sports Stadium. He was challenged by Chinese Wang Guangfu who threw his season best distance of 19.55m. 

In the women’s seciton, Viktoriya Zyabkina of Kazakstan clocked 11.40s to win women‘s 100m for the third time. W.K.L.A.Nimali of Srilanka has to dig dip to find an extra energy to emerge winner in the women 800m final and she did it with a performance of 2:06.73s. Experienced Anastasiya Pilipenko of Kazakstan confirtably won women’s 100m hurdles in 13.55s to remained unbeaten in the series. In the throwing events, Bian Ka of China remained unbeaten in the women’s shot put with a distanct of 18.34m.

$150,000 prized series was successfully organised by Athletic Association of Thailand.
