Marestella Torres wins Long Jump – Taiwan Open Athletics – Day 2

Taipei City, 17 May: Former Asian Champion and veteran star Marestella Torres of Philippines has still a lot spring left in her legs when she jumped to 6.53m, second best jump in Asia in 2015 to win gold medal in the Women long jump. Torres now wants to strike gold in Asian Championship in Wuhan next month. Wan Ju WEN of Chinese Taipei edged out Thi Truc Mai NGUYEN of Vietnam to finish on the second place with a jump of 6.07m. Thi Truc Mai NGUYEN managed 6.06m.

Chinese Taipei star javelin thrower Huang Shih-Feng, shrugging off disappointment of Incheon Asian Games cleared another  80m plus throw when he won men’s javelin throw final with a throw of 80.37m. Shih-Feng is confident of good show in Asian Championship in Wuhan.

Chieh CHEN of Chinese Taipei ran his second fastest time in 400m Hurdles to win the gold medal in 49.88s which is also 4th fastest in Asia in 2015. Chia-Hsua YU also from Chinese Taipei finished on the second place in 51.04m. Ka Chun CHAN of Hong Kong was third with 51.78s.

Hsiang Chun-Hsieng of Chinese Taipei improved his own National record in the Men’s High Jump clearing 2.25m ( Previous 2.24/18th Mar 2015). Seong Mo KANG of South Korea finished on the second place with 2.13m and Thanh Nhan NGUYEN of Vietnam took third place in 2.10m.

Chiaying LIN of Chinese Taipei won women shot put event with a throw of 16.44m.

In the Men’s 4x100m relay final Chinese Taipei team beat Asian champion Hong Kong team with a performance of 39.26s, second fastest in Asia in 2015. Hong Kong settled on the second place in 39.44. Indonesian finished close third with 39.47s.
