Beijing, 28 Aug 2015- World record holder Liu Hong lived up to her top billing as favourite to win 20km walk and finally she brought first gold medal for the host China and first Asian winner in the IAAF World Championship at Beijing.
Liu Hong, best female athlete of Asia clocked 1:27:45 in the sweltering morning heat of Beijing to win Gold medal. Liu was challenged by her teammate and former Asian record holder Lu Xiuzhi who finished 0.26sec behind Liu but official time was given same of Liu i.e 1:27:45. It was the closest finish in the IAAF World championship for walking event. Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Olyanovska won bronze in 1:28:13. Medals were awarded by the Du Zhaocai, head of CAA and IAAF council member during the evening session.
