It is with great sadness that one of our veteran discus thrower Mr. Ranjit Weerasena of Sri Lanka has passed away on 13 October 2020 leaving behind his family and loved one. Ranjit was a recipient of the IAAF veteran pin, President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka, former President Amateur Athletic Association of Sri Lanka, and also former Asian AA Council Member.
During his time as a Council Member, his contribution was immense.
Asian Athletics fraternity will always remember him for his charisma and contribution to athletics.
