Jiaxing, April 27: Chao-Tsun Cheng of Chinese Taipei spectacular javelin throw provide highlight of the 2nd Asian Grand Prix held at Jiaxing Sports Centre in Jiaxing, China on April 27.
Chao-Tsun Cheng, 23 years old former Asian Junior Javelin Throw champion has emerged as a contender for the World title in London with his spectacular first round throw of 86.92m at the Jiaxing Sports Centre. Chao added over 2meter to his own Chinese Taipei National record set on 7th April.
Neeraj Chopra, India’s World Junior Champion and World Junior Record holder sprang into action after Chao’s giant throw to register 83.32m, well short of winning throw but in process he made grade for World Championship in London. Huang Shih-Feng of Chinese Taipei settled on bronze in 78.55m.
Gazal Majed El Din of Syria sailed over bar at 2.30m in his first attempt in the Men’s High Jump to win the title.
Six athletes are on course for hat trick after the Jiaxing Asian Grand Prix. Mi hong of China in men 100m, Gazal Majed of Syria in Men High Jump, Chao-Tsun Cheng of Chinese Taipei in men Javelin Throw and in the women’s section Viktoriya Zyabkina of Kazakhstan in 100m, Nadezhda Dusanova of Uzbekistan in high jump and Feng Bin of China in Discus throw.
3rd and final leg of the Asian Grand Prix will be held at Taipei City on April 30
