Bangkok, 30 March 2017 : Asian Athletics Association council members gathered in Bangkok for the 86th AAA Council meeting hosted by Thailand Athletics Association on March 30. Council session was inaugurated by Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand. Gen. Dahlan Al-Hamad, President of Asian Athletics Association presented AAA Plaque to Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand for supporting Asian Athletics events.
After detailed presentation by Mr. Adille Sumariwalla, President of Athletics Federation of India, AAA Council confirmed Bhubaneswar (IND) as a host of 22nd Asian Athletics Championship to be held from July 6-9 at newly refurbished Kalinga Stadium. Earlier in 2016, Ranchi was awarded as host. However, recently AFI informed AAA about Ranchi’s inability to host the championship.
Council also confirmed Dongguan City of Guangdong province in China as a host of 16th Asian Marathon Championship to be held on 26th November 2017. Bangkok will host 2nd Asian Youth Athletics Championship from May 20-23, 2017.
AAA Council also confirmed Bhubaneswar as next venue for the 87th AAA Council and AAA Congress.
